I had my first generation gap moment recently when I took the death truck to pick up some gardening supplies. A cute kid named Matt spotted the Sex Pistols sticker on the back window while loading up the supplies into the truck.
Matt asks, “Hey isn’t that a band?”. I looked at him strangely and replied, ”well yeah they were a very famous punk band in the 70’s with one of the most influential albums ever.”
Matt says, “Oh I thought so, what are some of their songs?” Hoping to disguise my disgust I replied, “God Save the Queen”, “Pretty Vacant”, “Anarchy in the UK”? Matt says, “Nope don’t know any of those. But I’m really into oldie music.” Encouraged with his reply I ask, “like who”?
Matt replies, “Metallica”.
