Have brunch outdoors
Spend your weekend mornings people-watching and perfecting your accent of choice at Euro haven Extra Virgin or cute French eatery Gascogne. Scenesters can take advantage of late-night spot The Park’s sprawling outdoor garden and souped-up classics like the ricotta pancakes with orange mascarpone marmalade. For a more mellow scene, head to East Village favorite Back Forty, where the wait for brunch in the garden is a breeze compared with the cutthroat dinner competition. Read more in our guide to the best outdoor brunches.

Take the East Village Rock ‘n’ Punk tour
It seems like every musical genre has been shaped in some way by the streets of NYC (or, at least, music critic Tony Fletcher thinks so), but few scenes capture the imagination quite like the gritty, party-hard era of punk rock. To learn more about the days when Joey Ramone played CBGB and the Bowery was littered with syringes, join the East Village Rock ‘n’ Punk Walking Tour. Rock historian Bobby leads the way, offering insight into the neighborhood’s musical history and pointing out spots like the St. Marks Hotel, Iggy Pop’s former apartment and more. Reservations are required. Meeting location provided upon purchase of tickets (zerve.com/RockJunket/EVillage).
